I heart Fall!

You can't beat this KC weather lately...its been 75 and sunny for the past three days and I love every minute of it.

I thought I would post some pictures of the Plaza Art Fair weekend and then from DDD Old Maid Party.  Michael and I dressed up as a SPORK....I was a spoon and he was a fork.  We got a lot of compliments that night!

Plaza Art Fair was a lot of fun, I am still working on the Post PAF report at work and analyzing PAF artist surveys to make the '09 show even better.  Here are some pics from PAF and Old Maid...

I Survived!!!

It's Monday night after PAF weekend and I'm still standing!  I had a blast this weekend, working the art fair.   I finally got to meet all the artists I've been talking to all summer.  Aunt Patty bought me beautiful earrings and a necklace made by Randi Chervitz.   My boss, Kara, surprised me with my favorite piece from 2-D artist, Andrew Johnson.  To top off a great weekend, Kara took all the art fair staff (and our significant others) out to dinner at Brio...I had the best grilled salmon and a few glasses of Riesling too :)

Michael took over 600 pictures of the weekend.  I will post more pictures of the fair later this week.  Overall it was a huge success!  We had beautiful weather all three days, and there were no major problems with any of the artists or restaurants.   Michael and I got to go around the fair yesterday and hand out the awards to the winning artists.   It took us over 4 hours to hand them out to 15 artists just because we always stopped to talk and hear their amazing stories. We were both inspired :)

We brought Penny down on Saturday to the PAF and she was a huge hit.  Everyone wanted to meet her.  She was such a good girl, we had her down there from 11 am - 10 pm.  She took a few naps during the day and Michael had to carry her to her kennel when he got home.   I Love Her.

Michael is really inspired to apply for brookside, prairie village and the plaza art fair in 2009.  How fun would that be for him!!!

Back to school and back to life as a senior in Larrytown!

a weekend for chili and sweat pants :)

I'm officially gonna say...it's officially FALL. This is my favorite time of year; football, sweatpants, halloween, art fair, xmas around the corner (and of course my bday too!).

This weekend was very relaxing...I didn't do much of anything except study and go to Elspeth's wedding. Michael and I were supposed to cook our friends dinner and then go out to P&L on Friday, but there were like 8 tornados between Lawrence and KC so they couldn't make it.

So MJ and I ate lots of pasta and chili to eat all the food he bought for them. No worries, we got it done :)

We went to mass last night...I'm trying to start going again more regularly. It is definitely a great way to start the week off right.

Plaza Art Fair is this weekend! It will be a crazy busy week with work and school, but it will be a great experience. I hope everyone can make it down and see it! Let's hope for a nice fall weekend!

plaza art fair crunch time

I'm getting really excited for the plaza art fair. I've been interning for kara (the director of PAF) all summer and it will be here in 2.5 weeks! There is still so much to do but it is going to be a lot of fun. I'm learning a lot in this last month about event planning, like how essential it is to be 100% flexible in all circumstances and to just "roll with it."

I got to go to the kc star and edit proofs of the PAF insert which will be in papers Sunday September 4th. So everyone should check it out then! My name is in it and I co-wrote and edited all 8 pages of it. And i got to pick out the pictures...they are all my top 3 favorite works from each medium. I've included some of them below...

I'm really excited to see what else the artists bring! Its going to be a busy weekend, I'll be there workign the entire weekend, but I know it will be fun to see my family and friends stop by at various times during the weekend.
It's been kinda rough traveling back and forth from lawrence during the week for work, but it's only temporary and totally worth it. Hope everyone can make it out this year for the PAF!

senior year begins...

Wow what a month it has been...

I've been to Denver, CO with my Daddio for a weekend in July just to hang out and get away for a few days. I'm still thinking about moving out there after I graduate from KU in May. Everything is so beautiful out there, the mountains make me happy. But things are complicated now, and my heart is in KC. But I have a long time to figure things out.

During the first week of August I went to Montana with Michael's family. We went drove 25 hours to get there and hiked over 18.2 miles on various trails throughout Glacier National Park. The views were spectacular, I loved every minute of the trip. Here are some of my favorite pics of the week.

My favorite picture of the trip...my idea to pose of course :)

Our first day hike in Whitefish, MT

We could always stop for a kiss ;)

MJ looks so cute in this one!

Needless to say, I had a great time with Michael's family :) I wish we were still out there.

Then we came back just in time for me to head back to Larrytown for my very last recruitment ever at Tri Delta. It was a very emotional week, not only was it my senior year, but my baby sister, Em was coming through. Even though I wish she was a DDD, Em went Theta and she is so happy. I'm happy that she's happy, I know she will do great things for the KAT house. No matter what she will always be my true sister.

We had a little scare with Penny Poopers last week. We went to the vet and found out she had hotspots, ear infections and weird stuff in her bawls. But MJ nursed her back to health while I was away for recruitment and she is doing much better now. We are hoping to start her in puppy school at the end of the month. She is growing so fast, she is now bigger than Coney Dog!!! Here are her latest pics...

Hope Penny makes you smile...she always brightens my day.
I'm gearing up for the Plaza Art Fair in less than a month. It's going to be a really fun/crazy weekend. I've been working at my internship all summer for this one weekend. So if anyone is interested in volunteering or just coming down to check things ou, please see our website for more details www.countryclubplaza.com . I can send you more info about it all too, just let me know!
Have a great week! xoxo

chapter 1

Bare with me on this first entry, I've never really blogged before...but after creeping enough on facebook, blogging seems like the thing to do these days.

Last night I went to the Snoop Dog/311 concert at sandstone with some deltas. It was an amazing night, majo and I went to the front and danced our asses off. Snoop-a-loop was kinda lame, but he has some classics we all can appreciate. 311 was absolutely incredible. I remember stefan soltero being obsessed with 311 in third grade....wow if a band has been around that long you're gonna see am amazing concert.

MJ and I are going to Tom Petty next week. He bought us tickets to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. And what an incredible year it has been. He is the love of my life, and truly my best friend. Michael and I recently got a new puppy, her name is Penny. We call her Penny Poopers and sometimes Miss Penny Lane. (She has a dogbook profile on facebook, you should look her up!) At first I was really hesitant about MJ getting a puppy since it's sortof like getting a kid, its so much responsibility. But after a month and 1/2 we couldn't be happier. She has brought so much joy into our lives. She always puts a smile on my face. She is absolutely precious, and growing everyday. She will enter puppy class in the fall :)

Here's some pics of Poopers...

I need to take some new pics of her, she has grown so much in three weeks!!

Happy Friday!

Peace
